Ricardo Horta was born in Viseu. He went to Alves Martins High School, and subsequently completed a degree in Medicine at the University of Coimbra with distinction (2003). In October 2005, he entered in one of the three national vacancies that gave direct access to residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He was there for six years, at Centro Hospitalar São João - Porto. He currently works as a specialist in the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetics and Maxillofacial Surgery, at the same hospital. He holds a PhD in medicine from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Porto.
His history has been marked by great challenges and achievements, in an attempt to solve many and varied problems. His work seeks to have meaning in making human beings happier. He believes that happiness is not achieved with the possession of material goods and luxuries.
He is dedicated body and soul to his work, searching even in the most complex reconstructive situations, the best art and the best knowledge to overcome the goals that the vast majority of people sees as unattainable. This altruism reconciles with great dedication to his work, taking an average of 1000 annual operations.
